Two Things that Bothered Me Yesterday
1. I went to the mall because Macy's was having a big sale. While I walked through the parking lot I observed a mom yacking a mile a minute on her cell phone. That is fine, HOWEVER, she was holding the cell phone with her chin and shoulder as she was assembling a large stroller. The children were carrying on in the vehicle.
Let's just say... if I were the carjacking type- I would be in Florida right now.
2. As I was coming home from my excursion to the mall, I came up to a busy corner where car washes are frequently held by teenagers who are trying to raise money for their church groups, sports groups, etc. Well, the Pom pon squad was having their car wash. 2 girls were on the corner wearing string bikini tops and super tight/short shorts holding up their car wash sign and bumpin' to the music of passing cars.
Do their parents think that's OK? Does the pompon squad leader think that's OK? What is wrong with this picture!?!??!

one time when we were on vacation, we saw a lady talking on a cellphone, holding a dog on the leash, drinking a cup of coffee, and pushing a kid in the stroller. That's multitasking!! I think the kid was priority #4 down the list.
Put the phone down!
Put some clothes on!!!
Totally agree with Amanda!
We saw the pom squad down here dressed the same way a couple weeks ago for a car wash and Hannah says "GROSS! Why are they dressed like that?" Hope for my future in that comment :)
I want to throw things at people who are cell-phone-rude. How about those who drive, while on the cell phone, while smoking a cigarette, with kids in the car? What are they THINKING!?
Hooray for the child molester car wash. Great promo!
I like your header on your blog. It's so bright and pretty! I love yellow flowers best. :)
Well, the world is telling the girls that this is the way to go. In one sense, I am glad that I don't have a daughter. However, we are always talking to the boys about proper behavior and girls and how to treat a woman well. We'll keep those talks a coming!
Unfortunately, yes, the parents and the coach do think it's okay to dress like that. And what's really sad is that the adults are following the example of the kids in this area rather than modeling modesty for the younger generations. Too many grown women dress inappropriate in my opinion. I think it's so interesting that most Christians do not seem to have a problem with this issue, considering the fact that modesty was important enough to be addressed in the New Testament.
We went to the zoo on Wednesday last week and during the secluded part of the train ride, the driver was texting on her phone. It was aggravating!
I am appalled when I see thong underwear in the junior sections of stores. Come on!?!
Hmm. Very annoying. I agree. I was at the play area at the mall once and a lady was sitting on the bench yakking on her cell phone. Someone came rushing in with a little boy saying that a little boy was playing way out by the fountain (quite a ways from the play area). The lady on the phone just stood up, took the kid's hand, kept talking on the phone, and dashed out of there. What's wrong with people?
I feel really bad that those girls are subjected to selling their "image" to earn a few bucks at a carwash! The horrible thing is that we are doing them a GREAT diservice allowing them to think that is the way things need to be...those girls have been fed that sexist crap since they were born and probably don't know anybetter...I wonder what their self-esteems are like.
Unfortunately, I have been that lady on the cell phone with the car open and the kids messing around in the car. I was coming out of the mall where my three had been little stinkers and my nerves were already worn thin, then I got a call from my mom as we were approaching my vehicle telling me that my grandma had had a stroke and she needed me to get to the hospital ASAP! I was FRANTIC, PANICKED and ready to burst into tears -I was hollaring for Parker to get the kids in, I was struggling with that darned stroller that NEVER flattens out right, my grandma was in critical condition, my mom was crying to me on the phone, ALL the doors of the truck were wide open...I guess I never stopped to think that a stranger could be looking at me and thinking how annoying I was. I try to remember that everyone I meet is going through some sort of struggle - quite possibly one far beyond my understanding and it helps me forgive/overlook those irritations and wonder: is there something I could be doing to help?
Jim, our neighbor Bill and I went to Greek Fest this weekend. (Grandpa & Grandma had the boys) You would not believe how some of these "women" dressed!! WOW High heels, short shorts, down to there halter tops, hair teased to the max, lots of makeup & blingy jewelery (sp?). All we wanted was spanakopita, souvlaki & pastries and to listen to some good music. I guess the new place to troll is Greek Fest. So glad the boys weren't with us. This at what is basically an elaborate church fundraiser! So what was it like at the country music fest?!!
Betsy
Brandi- Casey tells me something similar about giving people the benefit of the doubt, but the woman on her phone sounded like she was chit-chatting about nothing very important. I'll admit it, I eves drop, too.
Jackie- thongs for kids? Say what???? It's only grannie panties for the Veihls.
Rachel, thank you! THose flowers make me happy, they always look good and the rabbits don't eat them!
Betsy, you are funny. The Greekfest here in Saginaw is basically a huge class reunion with lots of beer.
Yes exactly, in some moments I can reveal that I approve of with you, but you may be inasmuch as other options.
