Purple

This is Silverado's first summer flowering. He smells so gooooooood.

My only lilac. He was a sad little stick stuck behind some other plants at Wal-Mart 2 years ago. I rescued him and this is how he thanks me. :)

Iris and Baptisia (what a great pest-free plant!)
I wish they flowered all summer.

Laura, if you are interested I will probably have some little Jacob's Ladder seedlings for you- he's a prolific little bugger and he likes shade. Just let me know.

I love the variety you have! All I have is containers with impatiences for fear of the deer...but I am wondering if there are others I could plant in the sandy ground with tons of shade...what do you think flower guru?

OOHHH. I am interested. I need you take a field trip to my house and identify some things for me. I have some pretty yellow flowers that are similar to a black eyed susan that need to be divided too. Bring your kids and they can play in the tree house!

Oh Liz. Such a dilema. My in-laws live near Cheboygan and deal with the same problems. I was hoping Amanda would mention something...

I would incorporate as much compost as possible into the flower beds. The shade flowers I've had good luck with are bleeding heart, astilbe, primrose, pulmonaria, and Jacob's ladder. Oh, and hostas!

Laura- we would love to come over and tour the grounds! Maybe I can come some evening so Rachel can play for a bit.

Yeah if your soil is not good you can plant the most wonderful flowers there and they won't thrive. ammend ammend ammend! The people at the nursery should have ideas about flowers and plants the deer don't like. Good luck?!?
