***Caramel Oatmeal Chewies***
1 3/4 c. quick or old-fashioned oats
1 3/4 c. flour, divided
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt, optional
3/4 c. butter or marg., melted
2 c. semi-sweet choc. chips
1 c. chopped nuts (mine didn't have any)
1 c. caramel ice cream topping (we like Mrs. Sanders, soooo good)
PREHEAT oven to 350. Grease bottom of 13x9 pan.
COMBINE oats, 1 1/2 c. flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in large bowl. Stir in butter; mix well. Reserve 1 cup oat mixture; press remaining oat mixture onto bottom of prepared baking pan.
BAKE for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with choc. chips and nuts. Mix caramel topping with remaining flour in small bowl; drizzle over nuts to within 1/4 inch of pan edges. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture.
BAKE for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack; refrigerate until firm.
*** Side note: Adam was on red yesterday (meaning he disobeyed the teacher). Apparently he was climbing up the slide the wrong way on the playground at recess. And so it begins...

Oh SERIOUSLY! It only takes a little "creativity" in the climbing-up-the-slide area to go from green to red!?!? What happened to YELLOW?!! At least he is a loving, kind boy and not going around punching kids...now THAT would be something to go RED for!
Brandi, Adam can't remember what he did to get to yellow, he can only remember what he did to put him on red. Rachel said he was climbing the wrong way up the slide the day before, too, so they had their eye on him.
I know, I thought it was pretty lame, too.
Thanks Kara!! I think I'm going to make those this week to take to work. I got a few recipes online from taste of home. Maybe I'll make something new that you will want to try.
Casey used to be in the Principal's office at least once a week. I think Tommy might be the one to follow in his footsteps. :)
Once Adam learns the procedures and rules of the playground/classroom, he'll be fine. They always watch the little ones hardest so they can get them into the routine. He'll be fine.
I was always in trouble also in school. My principal from 5th and 6th grade still knows me when he sees me. I was in his office on a regualr basis. I turned out find in the long run. He will be fine in the end also.
I'm with everyone else. Boys love to test their abilities and as long as no one was coming down the slide at the same time, who cares? There is no one way to play.
