This is the fun I miss out on when I'm gone to work! The kids found a little rabbit cowering next to the house this afternoon. Casey picked it up and let it go under the fence, but later in the afternoon found the nest- right next to our house. I generally loath rabbits, but to see their little faces peeking out of the carefully covered hole... well, they are really cute. There are probably 5 or 6 of them in this tiny little hole, they are outgrowing it quickly. I'll check on them tomorrow. :)

Do you have any flowers that rabbits like to eat? The rabbits have destroyed several of our flowers UG!!
~Cathy
oh bunnies we love them !!!
olivia keeps asking for one but trav doesnt think gus will do well with one. we shall see :)
Cathy- yes, Amanda gave me a clump of hollyhock, it will grow a leaf and then they will eat it- it's a never ending process. And the lilies... I sprayed them with some stinky repellant and now they are tall enough that they aren't bothering them now.
Steph- Casey LOVES bunnies, too. I think if we lived in the country we would have them.
I say relocate them. Heheh they are cute though....
At first I thought it was a snake. I was looking at your wild glove. hah
Rabbits are cute. But I can't get over my bitterness at all of the garden goods that they like to nibble on.
How cute! I knew there was a reason I didn't have any flowers yet...too much to think about! :) Good luck though...keeping them away from yours!
I also think they are cute, but destructive. They ate most of my plants as well as part of my deck! We have started a "bunny relocation" program at our house. We are live trapping them (no harn done) and letting them go miles from our house. Hopefully my strawberries will finally get a chance to grow.
We had baby bunnies last year and I blame them for not having any pumpkins or carrots in my garden. They're so cute....but I'm glad they aren't around this year.
Jackie, I'm thinking about getting some strawberry plants next year, let me know how yours do!
Pam, I too tried to grow carrots when we first moved in here. Forget it!
Jen, Jeter would have a field day chasing these things around!
Amanda, I knew you would like the gardening gloves! Heehee! That is Casey wearing them. :)
Jackie, what do you use for bait in your live trap? I have had no luck trapping them.
Staphane, tell Travis that Gus will love a rabbit. They taste just like chicken.
I have managed to transplant a couple of the destructive criters to rabbit heaven with my little BB gun.
I brought one of those little bunnies into our house one time. It was in a very tall bucket that I was sure it could not get out of. Well, you guessed it. We spent the next several days looking all over the house for it. Finally one night, as we watched TV, it ran out from under the chair and I was able to catch it. They sure can jump high. One of the little buggers jumped at least four feet high in the moment between a BB striking his brain and his entrance into Rabbit heaven.
While they are fun to watch, they sure do destroy a lot of plants and flowers. They also dig holes under out shed.
Of course I meant to say under our shed. Fat fingers!
Phil, Casey sure would like your BB gun, I don't think ours would kill anything. Oh wait, he did kill a bat once, but that was execution style, so gross.
My strawberries are going crazy, I have actually started some vegtable pots on my deck and put some strawberries in pots. They are all doing great ! We have bunnies everyone once in awhile but it does help having a bird/hunting dog with a watchful eye on the yard. My herbs and veggies havent been touched, go buy a dog :) heehee. Also I heard if you put stinky things like garlic or onions close by they wont touch the berries, it worked for me. I have garlic growing right next to them.
Kara, I was wary of telling you Jim's comments but after Mr. Uncle Phil's BB between the eyes story, I feel safer. Jim could come over and then.. well.. HASSEN SCHNITZEL for dinner! Our darling (now sadly deceased) Alaskan Malamute took care of our bunny problem a few years ago.
Betsy
Steph, that's exactly what's in the stinky spray I bought- garlic and putrified eggs or something. Gag. You can at least eat the real garlic!
Betsy, with this crew you can share all your stories, spare no details!
Phil -
We used parsely and celery for bait. Worked great.
