Some of you may know how I adore my random collection of Pampered Chef items. Well, last night after a late night phone conversation with Jenny in the A Z, I was starving. So I got out my little Pampered Chef bowl that had some applesauce in it and plopped down in front of the tv to have my snack. Imagine my shock and horror when I discovered that my applesauce tasted exactly like chopped green chilies. That's right, chopped green chilies, because that's what was in the bowl previous to the applesauce.
So my question to you is- How do I get the pepper stink off the plastic lid? I hate to throw out anything that says Pampered Chef on it.

You would be surprised i don't know the answer to that, seeing i'm so good in the kitchen. haha.
Hope you find a solution to your problem :)
I'm not entirely sure, but I would try cleaning it with baking soda. It's a natural deodorizer, so if you made a paste of baking soda and water and rubbed it in, that might do it. or you might want to put it in a shallow pan or bowl with a mixter of hot baking soda and water and let it soak for several hours.
I think the best answer is to take it out to the back yard and put in a cup of gasoline. Then throw in a lighted match. But stand back. Or if you really like chiles just keep using it and it will wear off by the time you get your teeth cleaned 3 times by your favorite hygenist. By the way, is it hot? That could make some interesting applesauce.
I'm with Kate onthe baking soda. Although for onion and other strong smells I add a touch of lemon juice. The combo has worked wonders for me in the past. I'm with you on the pampered chef stuff. I hang on to things I don't even use just because they are pampered chef and I just might need it some day :)
Rub it with lemon I agree. Although it may smell like lemon next time?!!?
Baking Soda. Fixes everything!
Thanks everybody! I couldn't wait to come home on my lunch hour and see if anybody responded to my little problem.
Phil... you are so weird. I can't let my children see me with gasoline and matches, you know the boys would like to try that little trick.
The applesauce wasn't hot, it was just really gross.
i scrub my hands with salt after i cut an onion that works so maybe with baking soda, lemon and salt something has to work. why not mix it all together and scrub away :) hee heee
I agree with the soda fix. Usuall, that fixes everything. OR, you could e-mail pampered chef, describe your dilema and see what they say.
I keep PC things too. My garlic press makes really cool play dough "hair".
Betsy
I'd call Pampered Chef too. Maybe you would get a spare lid out of the deal. Hee hee.
Amazingly I was going to say the same thing my dad said. Gasoline and a match!!
Muth, you're always trying to get a good deal. That's what I love about you.
Chris, what's with you Luters, anyway? So destructive.
