Nope

After soaking overnight in lemon juice, the lid still smells like chopped green chilies. Not even a hint of lemon. Hmmm, Cathy had an interesting suggestion, but I think the gasoline and matches is sounding a bit intriguing at this point.

you could bring it here and I could try running in the dishwasher. That hot hot heat and the bleach in the soap may help??

Kara,
How long were the chilies in the container? Days/weeks??? Maybe you have to soak it in something that long too???? Just another thought.

My thought is to just let Casey use it for his extremely hot salsas. Say adios to the PC bowl.

Cathy, the chilies were in the container about a week.

A- thanks, but I think I'm going to pitch it. I can just use plastic wrap on the bowl. But reading all these comments sure has been fun.

Chris- he is not allowed to use PC for extremely hot salsa. PC is only for fine baking and cooking, no salsa.

no way! You are giving up so soon? Are you calling Pampered Chef?

Try white vinegar...it is amazing stuff...I have used it to get the stink out of many things!

Awww, Jenny and Liz are still rooting for me!

OK, I'll give it one more shot with some white vinegar (which I have none of. What kind of housewife am I?)
If that doesn't work I'll call Pampered Chef.

My mom suggests bleach :)

YES!! Do call Pampered Chef. I know Tupperware replaces items no matter how old or used (or stinky, I think). My mom got a new top for one of her bowls she got after she was married...in 1955!!!!

It's worth a shot and they should have a 1-800 number.

Jenny (Helen), Casey said bleach from the get-go, and of course I would hate for my husband to be right...

Betsy- 1955! Wow, kudos to Tupperware for standing by their product!

I was going to say vinegar too, I think I have some if you need it.

I haven't read all the other comments so this may have already been suggested (and tried), but here's what I would try:
1. Make a baking soda paste with just a bit of water and scrub the day lights out of the lid using the paste.
2. Simmer some vinegar and immerse the lid in it.
