Memorial Day

A war has never claimed the life of someone really close to me. Casey's uncle died in Vietnam, and I have a great-uncle that died in World War II. People that were close to these men and loved them still mourn to this day for the loss they suffered. I just want to thank everyone who was or is in the armed forces and serving our country. I am truly thankful for your service, and I am proud to call myself an American.

Hi! My hubby, Al, is cousin to Casey's Dad. We watched the Memorial Day Concert on PBS last night and, of course, talked about John Veihl, Casey's uncle who died in VietNam. Al was close to John and misses him very much. Al was in the Navy in Nam at the same time John was in the Army. We pray for him and ask comfort for the whole family as they have to deal with his loss every day.

Hi Ellen! Thank you for commenting, I have heard a lot about you guys!
Casey's middle name is John, and so is our son Adam. :)

Well said. Too many people just know it as a day off of work and a long weekend.
