Field Trip

Today I went with Rachel's class to the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum at S.V.S.U. You are not allowed to take pictures inside the museum, but outside I was able to snap a few. This is the only sculpture that they are allowed to touch.

We got to go upstairs and look down into the sculpture museum. They really liked this part. The sculpture of Jesus on the cross is 28 feet high, so when you look to the left in this window his head is right there, it's huge!

speaking of field trips, (okay totally unrelated) have you ever been to the Saginaw Children's Museum? Is it worth going??

I have not, but several of my friends (Amanda, Jackie, Pam...) have been there. I think Pam had pics on her blog of it.

Kara - it sure was fun today. A bit like herding cats er first graders but so good to see kids interested in art and wanting to touch and feel everything.

The Children's museum is lots of fun and nothing is off limits. They can play with everything and explore to their heart's content. Personally, I like the kid sized kitchen and the glasses (kids can try on all sorts of different frames). I wish they had a combined museum/zoo pass, but maybe next year.

My kids had the best time there! If you go, plan on spending at least half a day so the kids can play. Really play. Even my little Evan had things to play with and crawl around on. It's totally worth it.

I love the sculpture musuem. It was incredible and free! I don't know TwoMuths but I like the Children's Museum. It's a little expensive if your family is big but each Monday morning all the libraries in Saginaw get a free family pass..first person to ask for it gets it and it is good for up to six people.

Laura, I did not know that!

Did you know that the Jesus on the cross in the museum is a mold for the 'Cross in the woods' in Indian River? You might have to take another trip to go see that. :)

In my drawing class, we had to go sit in the sculpture museum and choose one of the sculptures to draw. I choose Jesus on the cross, but did NOT do it justice.
