It's NOT the most wonderful time of the year

It is cold. Really cold. There is ice on the inside of the sliding glass door in the kitchen. We leave the curtain closed all day because it is so cold by this door.

It got me to thinking about happier times, warmer times, and times when we were never sick. Here are some photos of things that we miss about summer...

Sunning ourselves by the flowers!

Muddy little feet!

Popsicles! Green grass!

Giving birth! Just kidding- I think we're safe to say this will be a birth-free summer.

Scooter/wagon rides!

Mmmmm. Good post. Seeing the kids on the grass with popsicles made me shiver. It's cold here, too. Not as cold as up there, though, I'm sure.

Warm days are coming!

I heard the weatherman a few mornings ago say that the tenperatures start rising again on January 24th. That's what he said. ~Cath

I've been feeling winter claustrophobic too. If I am cold one more day...this stuff will melt some in March right? Yea for summer.

Love summer pictures! I should have the curtain closed on our sliding glass door, but I really need the light down here! Light or warmth - it's a hard decision!

Okay, so maybe I'm the only one who picked up on the no baby this summer. Hmmm...you didn't mention this year. Anything we should know about? Are you planning for an addition in the fall or early winter? I'm prepared every Sunday morning just in case. :)

Laura- March is a little early, but possible!

Amanda- the gardening centers are calling our names, can you hear them????

Amber- if I lived in a basement, light would win out. So I am with you on that one!

Chris- Let's see... I would need to get pregnant by March I think to have a baby in '09. Hopefully I won't be ovulating by then. I'll let you know.

I hate to tell you this, but Cathy and I are looking forward to our 40th anniversary trip to Maui, Hawaii, February 16th - 27th. Average temperatures: 82 for high, 61 for low. It is thinking of it that helps me get through another day of freezing. Hopefully that March warm up will start right after we get back. However, I am not getting my hopes too high. I have seen too much snow in April. Maybe I should look for a winter job in Hawaii for next year.
