So I went to the dr. this morning. He confirmed that I am still pregnant. That was a joke. It's only obvious. Before doc came in to say "hi" the nurse asked me if I wanted him to check my cervix. I politely declined. Everything looks good, he jiggled my belly around and is guessing she weighs about 7 lbs. Sounds good to me! I go back next Fri morning again. I don't feel like she's ready to pop out any time soon, in fact the last few days have been really good as far as energy level and getting around... but I'm still not nesting per say. That would entail cleaning, which I don't currently do. Dishes are a must, but other than that the kids have been pretty helpful.
This leads me to today's question...
Does anybody still live without a dishwasher?

We have a portable dishwasher that rolls around our kitchen and hooks up to the sink and plugs in. My wonderful husband bought it secondhand when I was still teaching. Praise the Lord for dishwashers!!
Wow, 15 days til your due date!
Come on baby! She can come out anytime now. I never "nested" with either of my kids.
I love dishwashers!
I lived for a year without a dishwasher when the girls where 3 and 1. It was ok, but the worst part was sometimes I missed the sanitizing effects of the mechanical dishwasher. So great during sick seasons. I did learn a nifty trick though. I cleaned out space under the sink, dirty dishes were rinsed and placed in a bin under the sink and out of sight until I had a chance to get to them. That way the kitchen still looked clean (unless you examined things too closely).
Thats a good tip laura! I could do that now and i have a washer! My aunt doe shers by hand and when she came here she wouldn't use mine. She likes doing dishes. I do them when everything won't fit in the washer!
The thought of not having a dishwasher makes me sort of sick feeling.
We didn't have one for a couple of years after we got married and I never minded doing dishes.
Now that I have one, though, I can't imagine going back.
Our old dishwasher died a couple of years ago and until we could afford a new one, it turned into a glorified dish drying rack. (about 4 months) Actually, I didn't really mind doing dishes by hand. There is a feeling of job satisfaction seeing all those dishes DONE! We have one now and I love it for the convenience, but it is a luxury and if one appliance had to go, that would be it.

I couldn't imagine life without one. Actually I went without one a few times before all the kids were born during our many moves. But I don't know what I would do without one now. I do agree about the satisfaction about when they are done. I only put soap and water in the sink to wash down the countertops and stove etc. I can't beleive you are almost there having the baby that is.
There are many things on the list of "must haves" whenever we move someday (no time soon by any means): a dishwasher, more kitchen space, and an entry way where you can actually put coats and shoes would top the list right now.
No dishwasher here. I miss having one, but it's not too bad since I grew up serving as my mom's dishwasher. I think I'm used to it. I do feel like the kitchen is always cluttered though - either with dishes drying or needing to be washed. Laura, I like your tip!
I was checking in to see if you had that little girl yet! That's great that you are feeling pretty good to be getting around!
I love my dishwasher...dishes rank right up there with laundry in my book and I don't like either!
Before I complain too much about no dishwasher, I must admit that on the evenings Matt is home, he does the dishes and vacuums for me. I'm spoiled really!
